I'm not quite sure what to do with my Tuesday nights, now that Buffy, the Vampire Slayer has ended. For 7 years I've either been in front of the TV watching, or at least taping it while I was elsewhere and eagerly looking forward to seeing it. Joss Whedon is a gifted storyteller, and I'll miss the show. It was always, for me, about women doing things that they had to do, and doing them extraordinarily well, even when their lives crumbled to shambles around them. The dialog was funny and crisp to the point of edgy, and the people seemed like real people, dealing with real problems in an unreal world. I'll miss it.

Tired of the temporary life (temp workers spend a lot of time in Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt), I'm now an incorporated entity and trying to make a go of consulting. Write Tech Consulting, L.L.C. went live May 12, 2003. First contract is for the MSU School of Criminal Justice, bludgeoning their hefty event management software into submission. (Peopleware - really pretty good stuff, but complex.)
Other than that, life's the same old struggle... onward and upward!

It's been a busy, busy month, thus the no posting.
I face, alas, unemployment again as this temporary gig at School of Criminal Justice ends. We've had a short, victorious war (maybe) in Iraq.
I had the strangest dream the other day... I seem to have vivid, unpleasant dreams in the interval between snooze alarms. I dreamed I was living at someone else's house (evidently having lost my own), and growing smaller and smaller -- I could barely reach the counters, for example. And, as the dream continued, I grew shorter and shorter... hmmm... doesn't take Freud or Jung to figure THAT one out. I hate being a temp; you're always leaving, always a breath away from being completely out of work.

Where's Jae?
